Motorola RIZR Z

Motorola RIZR Z Reviews:
Cell phone giant Motorola has entered the world of slider phones with the RIZR Z series. The slider phone market that is currently dominated by Samsung will see new developments and competition with the arrival of Motorola. Sliders phones are nothing new and they have been enjoying their success and popularity since many years. What can this new move by Motorola indicate when concerned with the RIZR Z's design and features?

The Motorola RIZR Z is thick when compared to the popular Motorola RAZR. It is a little narrower though. The RIZR's styling is very typical of what one can expect from Motorola. The appearance also resembles a clamshell in some regards. Under the display, a little ridge facilitates the slider to work. However, the phone is very smooth except for the ridge. The ridge has another disadvantage: It will accumulate dust and so it needs to be cleaned regularly. The slider action is very smooth. It is controlled by a spring action. Just giving a push in either direction will make the slider to move out or inside as required.

Coming to the looks, the RIZR is quite different from its cousin: RAZR. Unlike the RAZR which has a steely metallic look, the RIZR is very soft, smooth and has a rubber finish. Coming to the size, the RIZR measures 4.15x1.79x0.62 inches and weighs 4.05 ounces. The slider adds up additional weight and this gives the RIZR a solid feel when holding in the hand. The phone also fits very perfectly in the hand and is very much comfortable to hold up and talk. Though the RIZR is a bit heavier than the RAZR, with regards to comfort the RIZR is better.

The display screen of this phone is not extraordinary for a phone that has been released this late. At 176X200 resolution the screen of the RIZR is nothing worth describing. This may come as a compromise to the fact that the RIZR is not very expensive. The display screen is also a bit small and for this reason the lower resolution fits very well. However, the RIZR's display can show 262,000-colors, which is an improvement. Text looks good and is readable. Pictures look alright and the quality is also good. The screen is readable even in sunlight. The back light time and the brightness of the screen are adjustable, but the other features are not adjustable.

The RIZR doesn't offer any revolutionary features. However, it is a satisfactory mid-range phone. The phone includes basic tools like an organizer; vibrate mode, voice recorder, text and multimedia messaging, alarm clock, calendar and calculator. Other features like a speaker phone, voice dialing, USB 1.1, POP3, Bluetooth and an Integrated Google Mobile Application are also available. The on board memory is about 23 MB. However, an SD card slot gives the user to expand up to 1 GB. These features are truly worth the price of the phone. For someone with a moderate budget and modest requirements, the Motorola RIZR is a very good option.
